Chicago Cubs 8 Philadelphia Phillies 7…The Cubs are blessed to have won nine games in a row but is that lucky or good.My father always said I would rather be lucky than good but that does not always play in Peoria in the big leagues.Aside from that introspection the Cubs are riding high after taking down Philadelphia 8 to 7 on a warm April day at Wrigley Field.There was plenty of offense as the Cubs hit three home runs including a three run shot by Michael Busch.Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki went yard also for the north side hit men.Dansby Swanson won the game in the tenth with a RBI single.The Cubs travel to Los Angeles to play the “evil empire” otherwise known as the Dodgers.

Chicago Cubs 7 Philadelphia Phillies 4…The night sky was shining from a gibbous moon as the Chicago Cubs once again bested the Phillies to continue their epic win streak with a 7 to 4 win.Shota Imanaga threw seven strong innings and Nico Hoerner and Seiya Suzuki both homered for Chicago.The Cubs continue their 4 game series against Philadelphia tomorrow night at Wrigley Field.

Chicago Cubs 4 New York Mets 2…With the season progressing the Cubs keep persevering to win games and today’s showdown with the Mets was no exception.Jameson Taillon had a strong showing yielding only one run.Ian Happ had a solo homer and Carson Kelly hit a three run shot to ice the game for the Cubs.The Cubs play New York tomorrow to hopefully complete the sweep on the Mets.On this day…Jackie Robinson played second base for Montreal on April 18’th 1946.

University of Connecticut 71 Illinois Illini 62…Turn out the lights the party’s over was a catchphrase by Dandy Don Meredith and now the Illini can understand this statement.U Conn bested the Illini 71 to 62 on Saturday in the final four.Bill Murray was joyful for his son a asansistant coach for the Huskies triumphed against a hot shooting Illini team that cooled down at a unfortunate time.Tarris Reed Jr.scored 17 points to lead the Huskies.Tarris also led U Conn with 11 boards.Silas Demary Jr. led U Conn with 7 assists.Illinois was led in scoring by Keaton Wagler with 20 points.U Conn plays the Wolverines of Michigan in the NCAA title game on Monday night.

Chicago White Sox 5 Toronto Blue Jays 4… Sweet home Chicago is the place and on the White Sox home opener there was plenty to be excited about.The defending American league champions coming to town and a lot of reasons to feel optimistic going into this game.The Sox were trailing 4 to 3 going into the bottom of the tenth and Chicago tied it, then Tristan Peters hit a single that brought home Miguel Vargas and the south side hit men prevailed.The White Sox host Toronto tomorrow night from Guaranteed Rate Field.

Michigan 95 Tennessee 62…The motor city and the mitten state are enthralled with the Michigan Wolverines,from Michiana to the upper peninsula everyone has the fever.Michigan ( 35-3) and a no.1 ranked seed are going to take on Arizona in the final four after big blues 95 to 62 win over Tennessee this Sunday.Yaxel Lendeborg had his usual outstanding game pouring in 27 points and hauling down 7 boards for the young forward who was a former transfer.Elliot Cadeau dished out 10 assists as Michigan’s young guard continues to excel.Jakobi Gillespie had 21 points in a losing effort for the Volunteers.

The case for and against Bill Bellichek…Some people are strangers to reality,as my father once told me.There are a large group of football fans who think Bill Bellichek should have been elected on his first try to the pro football hall of fame.The former New England Patriots coach was turned down on his first attempt to enter the hall.Canton does not let everyone in.O.J. Simpson got in before the disgraced running back was accused of murder.Bellichek is not nearly as repugnant as mr. Simpson was ,but he is questionable when it comes to being inducted to Canton.First of all,to make a case for Bill Bellichek,he won the most amount of games in NFL history as a head coach.To make a case for not being inducted there was ” inflate gate” where the balls in a Patriots,Colts playoff game were surreptitiously inflated to give the Pats a edge in the AFC title game.Another strike against him would be the fact that Mr. Bellichek is dating a woman three times younger than himself.Yet another strike against Bill would be the fact that he is still coaching for North Carolina and has expressed a desire to return to coaching in the NFL.Other teams have also showed interest,thus making him a very questionable candidate for Canton.I feel the sportswriters made the correct choice in not selecting Mr.Bellichek on his first time to be inducted into the pro football hall of fame.
