Iowa 16 Iowa St. 13…On Iowa is the Hawkeyes motto and they earned it on Saturday.The children in the Iowa pediatric cancer center were happy, for the moment, as their heroes the Hawkeyes rolled on to victory over state rival Iowa State.Iowa bested the Cyclones 16 to 13 with three field goals and a Hank Brown scamper that was the dagger.Iowa continues their non conference schedule this Saturday.

Texas 24 Ohio State 23…The stars are bright in the heart of Texas.That is alone from an old song and the Long horns certainly can attest to this sentiment.Arch Manning is his own man and in the Longhorns 24 to 23 win over the Buckeyes he proved it.Arch had a td pass that was crucial to the victory.Daylan Hollywood Smothers ran for two one yard touchdowns to secure the win.The loss for Ohio State knocked them out of first place in the AP poll.Arch Manning looks toward a great season for Texas after this epic win.

White Sox 7 Guardians 3…With the coming of fall there are pumpkins,football,and baseball playoff races.The White Sox had better get on the stick if they want to achieve a division championship however.In Mondays game against Cleveland the White Sox won 7 to 3.Miguel Vargas hit a home run and it swung the momentum toward the south siders.The White Sox continue their series with the Guardians who are competing with Chicago for the division crown.

Cubs 8 Braves 4…The playoff races are underway and the Cubs are burning rubber down the stretch.Shota Imanaga had six strong innings in the Cubs 8 to 4 win over the Braves.The performance gave Shota another win in this stellar season for the left hander from the land of the rising sun.Pete Crow Armstrong had two home runs and three RBI’s for the north siders continuing the speculation for him to become the National League MVP.Alex Bregman had a home run and 3 RBI’s in the game as he continues his torrid first season with the Cubs.The Cubs play Cincinnati this Friday to open up a three game series this weekend.

Northwestern 34 South Dakota State 18…Back to School was a popular Rodney Dangerfield movie where the irascible comedian heads to college in a goofy, irreverent plot.The Wildcats did not encounter Sam Kinnison, but the did find the Jack rabbits of South Dakota State to be a bit of a challenge.Aidan Chiles threw for a touchdown and ran for another, in the Wildcats 34 to 18 victory.The Wildcats look for more respect as they continue their non conference schedule and look forward to playing in their new stadium,Ryan Field this October, beginning with a contest against Penn State.

Illini 42 UAB 23…The season is upon us,it’s that time of year, to quote the Drop kick Murphy’s and their famous Christmas song when referring to the current college football season.The Illinois have started well although they have a difficult road to pave ahead of them.The UAB football program was first on their hit list however and the Illini dispatched them quite well.Kaitin Houser threw for three touchdowns and ran for one score in the rout.The Illini prevailed 42 to 23 as the Illini take on Duke next Saturday in another non conference matchup for Illinois.

Cubs 6 Marlins 5…The bright lights of Miami were on display on Saturday nights Cubs,Marlins showdown.The Cubs prevailed 6 to 5 with a great performance by Javier Assad and Ryan Zeferjahn who earned his first save with Chicago.Michael Busch had a RBI and scored a run as well.Ian Happ had a two run single earning two RBI’s.Michael Conforto started out the festivities with a home run to give the north side hit men a 1 to 0 lead.The Cubs take on the Marlins as they attempt to bring out the brooms for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.

White Sox 5 Astros 1…In Texas everything is supposedly bigger.The White Sox expectations seem enlarged as they enter a playoff push.Sean Burke got the win on Tuesday with 5 and two thirds scoreless innings of pitching.Randal Grichuk and Andrew Benitendi both hit two run doubles as the south siders got it done deep in the heart of Texas.The White Sox continue their series with Astros tomorrow night in Houston.

White Sox 3 Twins 2…Baseball is pastoral and has better vibes than football according to most experts.The White Sox Twins rivalry is quite similar to a football themed matchup.The White Sox defeated the Twins 3 to 2 on Saturday.Sean Newcomb got the win,a nice plum for the White Sox right hander.Andrew Benitendi went yard,had two RBI’s,and scored twice.The Benny bomb won the game for the White Sox.The White Sox conclude their series with the Twins this Sunday in Minneapolis.
