Minnesota Vikings 16 Green Bay Packers 3…The horns were blowing strong in the U.S.Bank stadium this past Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings closed out the season with a win over their hated rivals the Green Bay Packers.Resting their starters the Packers had little to play for other than pride.CJ Ham ran for a touchdown for the Vikings and Will Reichard kicked three field goals in the win.The Vikings won their last five games to finish third in the NFC north which boasts of all four teams having winning records.

Indiana 38 Alabama 3…The January first bowl games out shine just about any college sports events with the pageantry of parades and the greatness of sports.Indiana showed the nation they are for real as the Hoosiers destroyed Alabama 38 to 3 in a laugher.Fernando Mendoza threw for three touchdowns in a game that was never contested by the Crimson Tide.Indiana moves on to play Big Ten rival Oregon on Friday night in the college football playoffs.

Chicago Blackhawks 3 Las Vegas Golden Knights 2…The Chicago Blackhawks showed a unique form of championship mettle as they bested their conference rivals the Las Vegas Knights 3 to 2 on Sunday night at the United Center.Tyler Bertuzzi scored the game winner in overtime to the delight of the Blackhawks faithful.Avid Soderblom stopped 13 shots on goal to help Chicago to the victory.The Blackhawks next game is Wednesday against the St.Louis Blues at the United Center.

Illinois 30 Tennesee 28…Nashville was the place and the Music City Bowl was the game for the Illinois Illini and the Tennessee Volunteers.Illinois set the pace with Luke Altmeyer’s precision passing.Luke threw for a score and ran for another in the Illini’s win.David Olano kicked a game winning field goal late in the fourth quarter.Joey Aguilar threw for two scores and Desean Bishop ran for one in the loss.The Illini won their ninth game of the season for head coach Brett Bielema.

Detroit Lions 19 Chicago Bears 16…Sunday has a lonely feel to it especially when you are on the short end of a decision like the Chicago Bears in their season ender vs. the Detroit Lions.Jake Bates provided a lot of offense with his right foot as the young place kicker provided four field goals.Jared Goff threw for a touchdown to Jaymer Gibbs as well.The Bears Caleb Williams threw for two touchdowns and a couple of two point conversions in a losing effort.Chicago won the Northern crown winning only two division games this season.The Bears host Green Bay this Saturday night in the wild card weekend on Amazon.

Oregon 23 Texas Tech 0…It is better to be lucky than good.This is a time honored saying that can be applied only partially to the Oregon Ducks football program.Having standout running back Jordon Addison is a definite blessing mostly because of his talent.Jordon is also a quality person as well.Addison scored on two rushing plays for Oregon and along with three Alex Sappington field goals and a superb defensive effort the Ducks had no problem in this one.The final tally was 23 to nothing and Oregon never looked back.Now the Ducks move on to play the Indiana Hoosiers in the college football playoffs.

San Francisco 49er’s 42 Chicago Bears 38…Tony Bennett had a classic song entitled “I left my heart in San Francisco”. The Chicago Bears left their chances at a first round playoff bye in a disappointing 42 to 38 loss to the 49er’s.San Francisco’s Brock Purdy threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more in the niners win.Caleb Williams threw for two scores in the Bears losing effort.Christian Mccaffrey ran for two touchdowns in a stellar effort on the night.San Francisco plays Seattle for the Western division and the number one seed in the playoffs on Saturday night.The Bears wrap up the season at home against Detroit.

Minnesota Vikings 23 Detroit Lions 10…Christmas is the season of giving and the Vikings gave their fans a present on this blessed day.With 65 yard Jordan Addison run and a Aaron Jones scamper the Vikings may yet escape the cellar in the NFC north.Three Will Reichard field goals were added and the Vikings won solidly over division rival Detroit.The Vikings finish their season against the Packers next week in Minnesota.
