Cubs 3 Cards 0…The Chicago Cubs got to salvage a four game series with the St.Louis Cardinals that ended in a 2 to 2 tie. The Cubs got 5 strong innings from Shota Imanaga who has just returned from injured reserve. Michael Busch started the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning. The north siders added two more runs and never looked back. The game was not without controversy however as Wilson Contreras a former Cubs catcher, nearly started a brawl at the end of the game. With the Cubs leading 3 to 0 in the ninth Daniel Palencia hit Wilson with a pitch.Daniel closed out the game, but Wilson barked loudly and the benches cleared.It was all sabre rattling,though there could be some fireworks for the July fourth weekend when the Cards visit Wrigley to play first place Chicago.

Oklahoma City 103 Indiana 91…The Oklahoma City Thunder won the NBA title for 024 025 on Sunday night in a hard fought,”prison rules” environment. A casualty of this contest was Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton who injured his right achilles tendon in a drive up the court in the first quarter. Tyrese had nine points at this juncture but fell down in terrible pain tapping the court. The game resumed and Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Isaiah Hartenstein dominated for OKC.Alexander with 29 points and 12 assists,and Hartenstein with nine boards as the Thunder pulled away in the second half and never looked back. Benedict Mathurin led Indiana with 24 points and 13 boards. Tyrese Haliburton’s father was shown after his sons injury occurred,and was visibly shaken. The Thunder celebrated as ex Bulls guard Alex Caruso joined in with his new teammates in a raucous party.

My first crush was when I was in high school. I will not mention her name out of privacy concerns. I was a freshman in 1979 and she was a junior and I met her in an acting class. She was petite and lovely,with hazel brown hair and deep ,dark, penetrating eyes that could knock you to the canvas with just one glance. I never did anything about her because I was too shy and awkward so I regretted it badly. It was a case of unrequited puppy love.Of all my regrets it was one of my most sincere but time heals all wounds as they say.

Cubs 5 Brewers 3…The Chicago Cubs began their 3 game series with second place Milwaukee quite well with a 5 to 3 come from behind victory this Tuesday night. The Cubs got a solid performance from starter Ben Brown, despite the fact that he yielded two runs in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Seiya Suzuki homered to center field bringing home Kyle Tucker and Ian Happ. This made it 4 to 2 and the Cubs never looked back. The Cubs were rained out on Wednesday night and will make this game up in a future doubleheader at Wrigley.The north side hitmen conclude the series with the “brew crew” on Thursday afternoon at the friendly confines.

Cubs 3 Pirates 2…The Chicago Cubs won an oddball game this Sunday where both teams did most of the scoring in the first inning. Colin Rea did a solid job surrendering two runs in the first but holding the Pirates scoreless thereafter. Colin got a no decision as the game went into extras tied 2-2. The Cubs got out of the 10’th frame unscathed. In the bottom of the inning designated runner Miguel Brujan stole third. Then Dansby Swanson singled him in to signal jubilation for the north siders. The Cubs host Milwaukee tomorrow night in a battle of division powerhouses with Chicago holding a slim margin.

Yankees 10 Royals 2…The New York Yankees pulverized the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night 10 to 2. Austin Wells hit a three run homer as well as a two run double bringing the Yankees five RBI’s to an already potent offense. The Royals were never in this game as New York brought on the thunder in Kauffman Stadium.Max Fried struck out four batters en route to a dominating performance.The Royals have been scuffling of late even losing a series to the hapless White Sox.The Yankees wrap up the series against the Royals on Wednesday night in Kansas City.

Cubs 7 Nationals 1 … The Chicago Cubs beat Washington 7 to 1 on Thursday with a unusual pitching situation. The Cubs used Drew Pomeranz for the first inning then switched to Colin Rea who gave the north sider’s 5 and one thirds strong innings. The north siders bullpen cruised the rest of the way as the game was never in doubt. Ian Happ gave the Cubs a three RBI performance including a two run homer that broke the game wide open. The Cubs offense has been superb this year leading the league in quite a few categories. The Cubs are even one of the leaders in stolen bases with Mr. everything Pete Crow Armstrong heading Chicago in that category. The Cubs also are vying for the lead in home runs a great attribute for the north side hitmen.The Cubs play Detroit on Friday in the motor city.The game will be broadcast on Apple+.
