Illinois Illini 78 Maryland Terrapins 72…With tournament time looming the Illini want to finish strong and they got a good head start on that with their 78 to 72 victory over the Maryland Terrapins.David Mirkovic led the Illini with 22 points and 11 boards.David also topped Illinois with 3 assists.Andre Mills led Maryland with 30 points in a losing effort.The Illini await the big ten tournament which takes place this week.

Illinois Illini 80 Oregon Ducks 54…With March madness looming the Illini have a lot of work to do.23 and 7 Illinois got it done against the struggling Oregon Ducks who came out of this game with a lackluster 11 and 19 record on the year.Andrej Stojkavic had 21 points for Illinois,and he also pulled down 12 boards.Keaton Wagler had 5 assists for the Illini.Oregons Nete Brittie had 15 points in a losing cause.The Illini only have a couple of games left before the conference tournament.

Iowa Hawkeyes 74 Ohio St.Buckeyes 57…It was three days following Washinton’s birthday when the Iowa Hawkeyes won their most recent game.Much like the legendary president in question the Hawkeyes were too legit to quit as they hammered the Buckeyes of Ohio State 74 to 57.Iowa guard Bennett Stirtz led all scorers with 22 points.Cam Montgomery led the Hawkeyes with 7 boards.Alvaro Folguerias led Iowa with 5 assists.Ohio St. forward Devin Royal led the Buckeyes with 16 points.Iowa is a strong contender for the final 64 tournament otherwise known as March Madness.

Chicago White Sox 5 Chicago Cubs 1…The Chicago way happens to be the long ball in baseball and this Sunday the White Sox were loaded for bear.The Sox got 4 solo home runs and one from slugger Lenyn Sosa.The Cubs got a solo shot from newly acquired superstar Alex Bregman in a losing effort.Shota Imanaga scuffled for the north siders yielding 4 of the White Sox runs in early inning action.Shota has struggled during cactus league play.The Cubs play team Italy tomorrow in the Valley of the sun also known as Arizona.

Michigan 84 Illinois 70…Revenge is a dish best served cold and for Morez Johnson Jr. that is certainly true.The blue chip forward transfer from Illinois led Michigan with 19 points and 11 boards in a 84 to 70 win for the Wolverines over Illinois this Friday.Elliot Cadeau had 5 assists for Michigan.The Illini’s Keaton Wagler continues his torrid season with 23 points in the loss.Both teams are going to be highly seeded teams in the upcoming March Madness tournament.

Chicago Cubs 8 Cleveland Guardians 6…Mesa is a town of many mysteries but there is nothing mysterious about how good Shota Imanaga is.The left handed hurler was superb once again today as the Cubs defeated the Cleveland Guardians 8 to 6.Dansby Swanson hit a two run homer in the first inning,then added a RBI single in the sixth.The scoring in this game was done mostly in the later innings.Scott Kingery hit a home run for the Guardians to make it 5 to 4 Cubs but the north siders pulled away to win this game comfortably.

San Francisco Giants 4 Chicago Cubs 2…The Giants scored in a variety of unusual ways this Sunday in a 4 to 2 win over the Cubs.Two ground outs provided Frisco with enough runs to win including one by Rafael Devers that turned out to be the game winner that put the Giants up 3 to 0.The Cubs had a turn at unusual scoring when a grounder gave them the only runs that they would produce,all on a error.The Cubs play the Kansas City Royals on Monday in Surprise Arizona.

USA 2 Canada 1…The chants were pouring in USA all very raucous and loud.Jack Hughes supplied the game winner in overtime for team USA.Connor Hellubyck had 42 saves in a stellar performance.Team Canada looked dejected as the U.S. celebrated their gold medal.A satisfying day for team USA and a 2026 Milan Olympics the world can be proud of.Grazie.

USA men’s hockey team 6 Slovakia men’s team 2…The die is cast as team USA looks to battle their arch hockey rivals in team Canada for the gold medal this Sunday.Team USA’s Jack Hughes scored two goals for his squad and helped to propel the U.S. to a 6 to 2 win over Slovakia.Brady Tkachuk scored on a breakaway goal as time was waning for the game.The USA is currently in second place in medals earned as Norway is the leader for the Milan winter Olympics.
